The Local Government Authorised Persons Association Inc. has developed and grown through a lot of hard work by its members. The professional frame work, TAFE based learning and annual seminars showcase the abilities of members and the complexity of the roles Local Government Authorised People fulfil.
Local Government is taking notice of the APA’s advances and officers are being recognised as skilled and motivated people who can interpret and administer multiple Acts and Regulations covering multiple tasks across a wide variety of tasks.
Objectives The APA encourages you to join and attend meetings, to network with a wide variety of people in the job, express ideas, share information, gain skills, have a say in the Association's future direction, benchmark, support members, promote and develop authorised persons' within the local government industry. Members who attend regular meetings and training sessions that deal with topics that concern us all in our work environment will tell you that the APA works to grow your knowledge and skills in dealing with every day tasks.
Membership Qualifications A person is qualified to be an ordinary member if: a. A person has been appointed by a council to be an authorised person pursuant to the Local Government Act, 1999.
A person is qualified to be an associate member if: a. The person is, in the opinion of the Executive Committee, in a position, or has the ability to assist in, the promotion, aims or objectives of the APA. A person qualifies as described under section 3 (6) of the Associations Incorporations Act, 1985.
How much? The annual fee for membership is $20. The fee is applicable over the financial year 1 July to 30 June. There are no group or organisation rates.
Associate memberships – when approved is $20 New members and associates who join after 1 January can pay just $10.
