HalfDay Training for Authorised Persons

Homelessness and Local Nuisance: Understanding Your Role in a Changing Landscape

LGAPA, in partnership with Kelledy Jones Lawyers, is pleased to offer a halfday training session focused on two key areas for Authorised Persons.

Part 1: Homelessness – Roles, Responsibilities and Boundaries

This component of the session will focus on homelessness matters as they intersect with the work of Authorised Persons. With housing stress and homelessness becoming more visible across South Australia, Authorised Persons are frequently the first point of contact in complex and sensitive situations.

This training will help participants:

  • Understand where Authorised Person powers sit in homelessness contexts
  • Recognise legal limitations and risks
  • Navigate interactions in a way that is lawful, defensible and compassionate

This training is essential for ensuring compliance actions are balanced with fairness, clarity and an informed understanding of the broader social and legal framework.

Part 2: Local Nuisance Legislative Updates – What’s Changed and Why It Matters

The second component will provide practical updates on recent changes to Local Nuisance legislation, with a strong focus on operational impacts for Authorised Persons, particularly from 18th June 2026.

Participants will gain:

  • A clear overview of legislative changes
  • Guidance on how these changes affect enforcement, evidencegathering and decisionmaking
  • Increased confidence in applying nuisance powers consistently and lawfully

With enforcement activity often closely scrutinised, staying current with legislative change is critical to reducing risk and ensuring actions remain robust and defensible.

Both sessions will combine legal insight with realworld application, supporting Authorised Persons to perform their role confidently in an evolving regulatory environment.
